WHAT PEOPLE SAY

KENNEDY OSBORNE

"This magazine is fresh, exciting, and exactly what we need. The focus on emerging writers creates an opportunity for budding artists to share their craft and gain some exposure, and allows me to finally read something properly new. VAINE feels like turning a new page, like a breath of fresh air. Puns intended. As a poet myself, VAINE is exactly what I want to read, full of the voices I want to listen to."

LORETO ALEGRE

"Amazing content made by Siria Ferrer, Dominic Thomas and many other artists. Highly recommended"

LAURA MARTINEZ

"Without doubt a great burst of creativity and talent, embodied in words and images. A fresh new prospect for culture during these difficult times"

VICTORIA SENDRA

"VAINE could not have chosen a better theme for their first edition. We have all been overwhelmed with information and opinions about what's been happening in 2020, but not so much about the feelings the pandemic has provoked in us.
VAINE's Covid-19 edition manages to document this historical moment from a different perspective - an emotional one.
Reading it made me feel like I was not alone...I identified so much with each one of the artworks!
It's such a relief to find that there are so many of us who share the same experiences and emotions in the pandemic, despite differing opinion or political persuasion. Thanks to the editors and artists for creating such a much-needed magazine!"

AT THE BACK OF THE STAGE ARE THE DIGITS

OF A DIGITAL CLOCK COUNTING THIRTY MINUTES

NOTHING IS HAPPENING...

AND THE DANCERS ARE PULSATING ONSTAGE

AS THEY LET THE RHYTHM UNDER THEIR SKIN

NOTHING IS HAPPENING...

AND A LINE OF SAND CASCADES LIKE A THIN

SHAFT OF LIGHT DOWN THE STAGE'S CENTRE

NOTHING IS HAPPENING...

Welcome to earth. Welcome to life.

Welcome to the destruction from the inside.

A long time ago, Before any creature had walked the

lands, We had been nothing, But a tiny breath in this

vast universe.

"ACROSS THE STREET A GUY HELD UP THE NATIONAL FLAG OF BELARUS IN BOTH HANDS. THE POLICE INMEDIATELY TOOK HIM INTO THE AVTOZAK"

"There is a social taboo on waste. It is perceived not only as worthless, but as dirty and unhygenic. Our society is used to making waste "go away", by bagging it up and putting it out of sight and out of mind. It literally disappears from our visual radar. My artworks do the opposite, shining a bright flash-light onto this taboo.

A MURMUR HAS BEGUN AMONG THE TREES

THEIR GREENNESS FINALLY DULLED

SUNKEN SHAPES ETCHED INTO THEIR LEAVES

SOON TO APPEAR IN YOUR FLESH.
